MyBooks Installation

To install MyBooks for Linux on your server:

Download - Log on as ‘root’ and download the following file into a directory where you want to install the product (e.g., /appgen):

mybooks.tar.gz ~ Approx. 55 Meg

 

Install - Next, while logged in as root and from a terminal session:

- set your umask:

----------umask 000

- go to the directory in which the downloaded files are located (e.g., cd /appgen)

- uncompress the file:

----------tar -xvzf mybooks.tar.gz

   

Configure - Run the MyBooks setup program:

----------./Setup.sh

When this program finishes, a MyBooks icon should appear on your desktop. If you do not see it (as is frequently the case with the Gnome desktop) you need to refresh your desktop. On the Gnome desktop, simply right click anywhere on your desktop, and select Rescan Desktop.

   

Start Up - Simply click on the MyBooks icon on your desktop.

To install the MyBooks Client on your Linux workstation:

Note: If you are running MyBooks on one machine, you don't need to install the MyBooks Client

Install - Next, while logged in as root and from a terminal session:

- set your umask:

----------umask 000

- go to the directory in which the downloaded files are located (e.g., cd /appgen)

----------tar -xvzf mybooks_client.tar.gz

   

Configure - Run the MyBooks setup program:

----------./Setup.sh

To start up MyBooks Professional:

Start Up - Simply click on the MyBooks icon on your desktop and specify the IP address of the server to which you want to connect.

NOTE: Before you can connect successfully to the server, the MyBooks server daemon must be started on the server. To do so log on to the server as 'root' , go to the Appgen base directory, and type:

./agdaemon.sh
